About My Website
Welcome to my website! My goal is to not only help folks understand how tires work, but to also explore related topics. The information provided here will be somewhat advanced. If you want something more basic, try Tire Rack’s website: Tire Rack’s Tire Tech Area
The articles here are organized chronologically, based on when I last updated them. Where appropriate, I’ve indicated the changes I made.
I’ve done my best to ensure the information is accurate, but it’s not absolute—some of it reflects my opinions, which I’ve hopefully clearly distinguished from facts. Most of the content focuses on Passenger and Light Truck Tires, though much of it applies to tires for other vehicles too.
A quick note about the content: I’ve included some copyrighted material under “Fair Use” principles, repurposing it for educational or entertainment purposes in a new context, not for commercial gain or competition. Also, creating a website like this is a ton of work—huge respect to those who do this regularly! I hope you find the site both informative and engaging.
About Barry
I’m a retired tire engineer with over 40 years of experience in manufacturing, design, and testing for a major tire manufacturer, though I won’t disclose the company’s identity or proprietary details due to their concerns about employees and former employees posting online. My career included roles on committees for organizations such as the Society of Automotive Engineers, the US Tire Manufacturers Association, the Tire Industry Association, and the Tire and Rim Association.
I hold a BME from the University of Dayton, with some graduate school experience. The information I share here will be generic, applicable to any tire regardless of manufacturer, and while I’m retired, I still engage in projects like this website and am available for consulting services.
